Getting the most out of SocialEdit

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. Recording, organizing, and editing on your own work entirely on your device and are free forever, with no sign-in. You only create an account when you want to invite an editor or accept an invitation to collaborate.

How do I record a clip?

Hold down the record button to capture a clip and let go to stop. You can stack up several clips and then edit them together. Recording requires a device with a camera.

What can I do in the editor?

Trim and split clips on the timeline, reorder them, add text overlays and filters, and change playback speed. You can preview the full edit before exporting the finished video.

How does inviting an editor work?

On a Team or Studio plan, open a project and invite an editor by email. You choose, per editor, whether they can add media and export, and they only ever see the folders you share with them. Recording always stays with you, the owner. Invitations expire after 7 days.

Why can't an editor record?

By design, recording is owner-only. Editors help with the cut using the clips you share, but they can't capture new footage under your project, even on their own device. This keeps ownership of the footage clearly with you.

What's the difference between Team and Studio?

Both unlock collaboration with the same per-editor permissions. Team lets you share with up to 3 editors ($9.99/month or $79.99/year). Studio raises that to 20 editors ($24.99/month or $199.99/year) for higher client volume. See pricing.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through the App Store. Manage or cancel anytime in your device's account settings under Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Where are my videos stored?

While you work solo, everything stays on your device. Only when you share a folder are that folder's clips uploaded so your editor can work with them. Read the full details in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your associated records from our database and your video files from our storage. Content stored only on your device is removed by deleting it in the app or uninstalling. You can also email us to request deletion.

Is there an Android version?
